After her 14-month old child was left in an unattended hot car, a mother faces charges.
Jacksonville Police Department has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the death on August 29. The child had been left in an unattended hot car at The Suburban Extended Stay, 1323 Lejeune Boulevard. Dayla Timms was caring for the child over a long period of time.
Timms was charged with involuntary manslaughter, and negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.
On arrival, officers and firefighters began performing life-saving procedures on the child. Onslow County EMS then transported it to Onslow Memorial Hospital. After arriving at hospital, the child was declared dead.
The temperature in the car was 92 degrees, according to officials.
