Baltimore City’s family calls for action following two tragedies in just two months.

Takiea’s home was destroyed by an unoccupied rowhome on November 1. In September, a city tree fell onto the home.

The family wants to see action taken by city officials.

I’m drowning in my own thoughts. It’s really taking its toll. When does it end?” Anderson asked.

11 News interviewed Anderson back in September when the tree that cracked pieces off of the roof caused significant water damage. The crews took several days to arrive and remove the trees.

The tree fell on this bedroom. She said, “This is how the wall should look, but it’s not what it looks like now three months after the incident, because the hole is still there in the roof.” Not only didn’t the adjuster send out a cheque to repair my roof, but the city did nothing either.

Anderson remembers the same fire but it was not in her house. The fire was caused by a rowhome that was vacant next door, Anderson said. She said her husband had used a fire-extinguisher in order to put out the fire, but that the damage had already been done by the time the fire department arrived.

My couches, for example, are damaged. The box I used to keep my wedding souvenirs is damaged. “It was made out of glass,” said she.

Anderson said that she had been dealing with an adjuster for her insurance but was getting the runaround. The only thing that protects her house from further damage is a tarp, which makes it impossible to live in.

Water damage was done to my cabinets and floors. Also, a bunch of wedding presents were ruined. She said that there was soot all the way up her steps.

Anderson expressed her disappointment at the lack of response by city officials.

What’s the next step? “None of it, your things destroyed my house, peace, happiness, comfort, stability, and my security. And not a single time did you consider that reaching out would be okay?” She said.

She is looking for someone in the city to take responsibility for the problems her family faces.

You didn’t say sorry to me when your stuff fell on my house. I apologize. I apologize. “Nothing,” Anderson replied.

According to 11 News, the mayor’s office is investigating this situation.
