The Wicker Park Restaurant that has been closed since November 26, after an electrical fire broke out on its roof, is to reopen.
The Perch was engulfed in flames during dinner nine days earlier. The Perch was not damaged. Owners of the restaurant, 4 Star Restaurant Group, who also own Smoke Daddy across the street and Crosby’s Kitchen, in Lakeview, have announced that the Perch is reopening at 11:15 a.m., on December 6, 2013.
In a statement sent to Eater Chicago by the owner, the company said that the fire had damaged both the roof and the hood. They have been working round the clock to get the restaurant back up. The owners praised both the manager Sean Cusick and the entire staff for their leadership during the evacuation of the restaurant last week.
The statement reads: “Our Perch team did an excellent job in taking every step to ensure that all guests and members of our team were safely escorted out of the building on time.” We are grateful for the rapid response of the local fire department. They prevented major damage due to their quick response.
In appreciation of the Chicago Fire Department’s quick response, the proceeds of beer sales will be donated to two fire stations who helped minimize the damage.
