In 1907, trams are king. On Moseley Road, the Grade II-listed depot and office complex opened with a capacity of 77 trams.
It was considered an architectural masterpiece that reflected the pride of the Birmingham Corporation in its new electronic tram and the location within a “highly-status area.” The building was positioned alongside grander buildings like the Moseley institute and Moseley Road, former garages and offices for Allenways Ltd. A heritage document states that the trams operated from Moseley Road Depot from 1942 to 1949. More than 3,000 people attended to bid farewell, with many souvenir seekers removing items from vehicles such as destination rollers and bulbs.
