Danelo Cavalcante was sentenced for the fatal stabbing of his former girlfriend Deborah Brandao on April 20, 2021.
POCOPSON TWP. Pennsylvania, (WPVI). — The man accused of killing his girlfriend and stabbing her in the face in front of the children of the victim escaped the Chester County Prison on Thursday.
Danelo Cavalcante is 34 years old and has been identified as the escapee.
According to officials, he may still be in the area.
Deb Ryan stated that at the moment, there are no signs of anyone helping him to escape. “We are convinced that he is here in the locality and is on his own.”
Ryan believes that Cavalcante has headed south.
She stated, “No matter how long it may take, we will always find him.”
Anybody with any kind of information should call 911, or U.S. You can contact the U.S. Marshals at 877 WANTED 2.
The reward for information which leads to Cavalcante’s captivity is $10,000.
West Chester University, meanwhile, announced on Friday the cancellation of all classes. To gain entry to any building or campus you will need a WCU ID card.
This was a decision made out of “an excess of caution” by the University, which is only six miles away.
“All employees who are not essential to the company can work from home the rest of today.” Updated information will be provided to residents of residence halls via a separate communication. The food service will be available for all students. Don’t forget your WCUID when you want to gain access to any building,” stated the University.
Chester County District Attorney’s Office confirms that the escape occurred around 8 :50 on Thursday morning.
Cavalcante walked along Wawaset Road around Pocopson Township, at 9:40 in the morning.
It took only 15 minutes for a jury to find Cavalcante guilty of murdering Deborah Brandao (his girlfriend of 2 years) at her Schuylkill Township residence in April 2020.
It was alleged that the man was enraged because she wanted to expose a murder conviction he held in Brazil.
Officials have confirmed that he has been sought for an alleged murder from Brazil in 2017.
His depravity does not know bounds. Ryan, during a conference call on Thursday said that the person has no reason to be there. “I do not know what this man is capable of. It’s impossible to stop him if he already murdered her in full view of their two children.
He had been sentenced to life imprisonment on 22 August and was now awaiting transfer to a prison of state.
Howard Holland the acting prison warden said on Thursday that an investigation was underway to determine how the escape took place.
Holland: “As soon as we realized that there was an issue, we locked the prison down, and performed a special counting to confirm only one inmate had gone missing.”
Cavalcante measures five feet, weighs 120 lbs and has brown eyes. His hair is shaggy with black curls and long.
His last sighting was wearing a grey tee-shirt, white shorts and sneakers. A Brazilian, he speaks Portuguese and Spanish as well as some English.
Cavalcante is from Phoenixville as are his victims’ families. Police has been in contact.
The authorities claim that after Cavalcante murder his ex-girlfriend his family helped to flee. Investigators warned Cavalcante’s family, if he helped them flee.
